Delta 9 THC is a major cannabinoid that can be found in cannabis. Extraction of THC is usually fairly cheap and simple - it traditionally is derived from marijuana plants, however recent technology has allowed for Delta 9 to be extracted from the Hemp plant, resulting in the recent federal legalization of the use of Delta 9 when it is specifically derived from Hemp.
There is currently no record to tell when, how, or who discovered THC. THC is formed from the THCA compound after being exposed to heat, light, and time - THC undergoes the chemical reaction known as decarbonization, just like other cannabinoids. Chemically, Delta 9 gets its name from the location of a carbon double-bond. Isomers of Delta 9, like Delta 8 and Delta 10 THC, have this double bond , but in a different location.
Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC have pretty much identical chemical formulas, however, they differ by the location of a carbon double-bond. This difference manifests as a large difference in potency, making Delta 8 THC about 50% weaker than Delta 9.
